Fog over the dunes
Three mornings in a row the fog rolled in before sunrise. The trick was to wait until the first gaps appeared and the lighthouse beam started to cut through.
Notes on coastal light, long exposures and quiet mornings.

A six-stop filter covers most of my harbour work. Ten stops is fun for clouds, but it turns every boat into a ghost.
Matte paper forgives a lot and keeps the soft grey tones of a cloudy sea. Glossy prints look better for night scenes with city lights.
